Who doesn't like pizza? But if you're on a salt-restricted diet, finding a good pizza with low sodium is near impossible. So, why not do what Opa did - make your own. Lower sodium pizza crusts are available, though you need to look for them. Use our Very Low Sodium Pizza Sauce and your favorite toppings to make a delicious pizza and enjoy. Swiss cheese is lower in sodium than other cheeses, so you might consider that option. (You can also use the flavorful sauce on your favorite pasta, as well)!
We started with our Very Low Sodium Mustard and added honey! It's great on chicken tenders, pork roast, salmon and any other food that you like to add honey mustard to. You can even thin it down with some vinegar & oil to make a Very Low Sodium Honey Mustard dressing for salads. Try 2 parts Opa's Honey Mustard and about 1 part, each, of olive oil and apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice).
We started out with a Mild salsa and a "spicy" salsa. Many customers told us that our "spicy" salsa was more like a medium. So, we renamed that one to Medium Salsa, and came up with a new recipe for Hot Salsa adding jalapenos and hot sauce. A salsa heat level for everyone!
For our first year, we packaged everything in sealed "mason" jars. It's clearly the most familiar way that home canning is done. But, the packaging for some of the condiments was not as user-friendly as they should be. Things like ketchup, mustard, steak sauce and barbeque sauce are easier to use when poured out of a bottle rather than spooning them out of a jar. So, we found 12 oz glass bottles and caps that allowed us to still use the approved canning process and provide a product that's easier to dispense!
